PLAYWRITING

I have always loved writing, but I did not find my voice as a playwright until my sophomore year at Northwestern University, when I took Intro to Playwriting with the brilliant Laura Schellhardt. I fell in love with the limitless nature of playwriting; the ability to construct something out of nothing; and the power of unspoken and spoken connection. As a playwright, I aim to position women and their stories at the center of my work. I am deeply inspired by coming-of-age stories depicting conflicting senses of femininity (The Wolves, Man of God, How to Defend Yourself), and often reflect that dissonance on stage myself. There is no singular experience. That is why I write. To expand upon or contradict what others before me have claimed and to lay down the foundation for more to come.
